NAWOJ, Lagos

The National Executive Council (NEC) of NAWOJ held a meeting at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Center, Owerri, Imo State on November 22, 2025.

Theme of the event was "Amplifying Change: The Media, Legislation And The Advancement Of Women".

The NEC was hosted by the National Secretariat of NAWOJ and the Imo State chapter.

On November 15, 2025, the NAWOJ Lagos Chapter launched the Chapel Champions Initiative.

The Champions, representatives of women in each Chapel of the NUJ Lagos Council, are mobilizers nominated to drive Nawoj Lagos programs and activities in their Chapels, for coordination and easier inter-Chapel interaction.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was entered into by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Lagos State Chapter (NAWOJ), Together for Rights and Sustainable Development Initiative (THREAD Initiative) and International Center for Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable (CENPAD) on the urgent need to improve maternal health and advance the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of women and girls, especially those from economically marginalized communities in Lagos State.

Through the MoU, the parties affirmed their shared commitment to advocacy, media engagement, policy influence, and knowledge sharing as a collective coalition working to promote reproductive justice and improve maternal health outcomes in Lagos State.

The agreement was signed by the Chairperson and Secretary of Nawoj Lagos, Programme Coordinator of ThREAD Initiative and CENPAD officials, on October 21, 2025, at the NAWOJ Lagos Office, Ladi Lawal House, NUJ Secretariat, Iyalla, Ikeja Lagos.
